Comprehensive dental care services tailored to ensure your pet's oral health and well-being.
Dental health is one of the most neglected parts of pet health, with many pets experiencing painful oral issues like dental disease. Our veterinary team is equipped to provide basic and advanced dental care, based on your pet’s needs. It can be hard to tell if your pet is suffering from an infection or dental disease so, our team can support diagnosis and treatment.
We start with an oral exam to assess your pet’s dental health. Don’t feel guilty if you miss the symptoms of your pet’s oral condition. Furry friends are great at masking pain and discomfort so it’s not uncommon to overlook this. After our exam, we’ll discuss any additional steps we’ll need to take to diagnose and treat your pet. Common issues we see include:
Depending on your pet’s diagnosis, we’ll tailor their treatment to support their specific oral health needs. For example, if your loyal companion has gingivitis, we’ll recommend a COHAT (Comprehensive Oral Health Assessment and Treatment), where we can deeply clean and polish their teeth. If your pet has gum disease, we could recommend surgery to remove any teeth that are too damaged to receive treatment. From 3-months-old, it’s important to start regularly brushing their teeth at home. You should be bringing your pet in for regular checkups so we can determine how often they need cleanings. We use general anesthesia during cleanings to ensure your pet is comfortable. Once your pet is under anesthetic, we’ll examine their teeth and take dental X-rays to determine their oral health above and below the gum line. Next, we probe, clean and polish all their teeth. Lastly, a medicated solution is used to flush below the gums and fluoride is applied to the teeth.
