Education: University of Guelph, Ontario Veterinary College
A life long resident and lover of Sudbury, Chad was educated at Churchill Public School, Lasalle Secondary School and Lo-Ellen Park Secondary school, before attending the University of Guelph, where he graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1993.
After returning to Sudbury after graduation, Chad joined into a partnership with Dr Jim Hysen, the founder of Lockerby Animal Hospital. Together they enjoyed almost 20 years of successful practice before Jim was taken from all of us with cancer in June, 2012. They were also great friends, enjoying many fun trips and conferences together, as well as Farley Foundation fundraising , and OVMA volunteerism. It is Dr Jim’s legacy of excellence and caring that drives Dr Chad forward in trying to make Lockerby Animal Hospital a wonderful place for it’s patients, clients, and staff.
Chad’s community involvement includes being current President of the Sudbury and District Veterinary Association, former board member of the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association, and a former board member of St Andrew’s United Church. In the fall of 2012, he participated in the Farley Foundation’s Ride for Farley, cycling 100km to raise funds for the Foundation, in memory of Jim Hysen.
Chad is happily married to Sandy, and they have two wonderful daughters, Logan and Taylor. He misses his Golden Retriever Murphy who was the comic relief in the family, never turning down an opportunity to ham it up for the camera! Away from the clinic, Chad enjoys motorcycling, downhill skiing, cycling, running, collecting comic books, and spending time with friends.
