Dr. Chad Wilkinson

Veterinarian

A lifelong resident and lover of Sudbury, Chad was educated at Churchill Public School, Lasalle Secondary School and Lo-Ellen Park Secondary school, before attending the University of Guelph, where he graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1993.

After returning to Sudbury after graduation, Chad joined a partnership with Dr. Jim Hysen, the founder of Lockerby Animal Hospital. Together they enjoyed almost 20 years of successful practice before Jim was taken from all of us with cancer in June 2012. They were also great friends, enjoying many fun trips and conferences together, as well as Farley Foundation fundraising, and OVMA volunteerism. It is Dr. Jim’s legacy of excellence and caring that drives Dr. Chad forward in trying to make Lockerby Animal Hospital a wonderful place for its patients, clients, and staff.

Chad’s community involvement includes being current President of the Sudbury and District Veterinary Association, a former board member of the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association, and a former board member of St Andrew’s United Church. In the fall of 2012, he participated in the Farley Foundation’s Ride for Farley, cycling 100km to raise funds for the Foundation, in memory of Jim Hysen.

Chad is happily married and has two wonderful daughters. He loves hikes with his Golden Retriever Bruce, who is named after Dr. Chad’s musical hero – Bruce Springsteen. Away from the clinic, Chad enjoys motorcycling, downhill skiing, cycling, running, collecting comic books, and spending time with friends.
